About
J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, Johannesburg - 2024
The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is the world’s largest corporate running event. It began humbly with one race for 200 entrants on July 13, 1977 in New York’s Central Park and has now blossomed to events in 15 cities in eight countries on all six fully inhabited continents. The all-time largest Corporate Challenge was hosted in Frankfurt, Germany in 2008 – an amazing 73,719 participants. When the planned events resume in 2021, it will be the 45th consecutive year of operation for the Series, owned and operated the entire time by JPMorgan Chase & Co. and its predecessor firms. The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series is known and loved as a global celebration of corporate teamwork, camaraderie, and community.
How It Works
The Corporate Challenge provides teams with a chance to come together outside of the workplace, promoting fitness, friendly competition, and team celebration.
Due to the business-to-business nature of the event, participation is organized through Company Teams. Individuals must join their Company Team to take part; they cannot participate independently. Each company appoints at least one Team Captain who acts as the main point of contact. The Team Captain is responsible for communicating with colleagues, encouraging registration, managing budgets (if applicable), and planning post-race hospitality experiences (if applicable).
